Things I had made ...

Here are some of the things i had made .... pretty simple but i *heart* the fabric and the way it turned out :)

made a simple one first but it looks like it needs a companion

My bunny - made of felt some time ago - and it looks so happy here. i think they go well together ")

Next, i tried to do a pink pin cushion .... trying out different idea - ie sew with the ribbons and do the closure at the bottom and decided to make a matching coaster to go along ... after all, crafting is hardwork and we need a cuppa of drink nearby  

Didn't really like the way the pink border turns out ....

 My pink pin cushion - a friend asked why i need so many pin cushion? errrrrr ..... dunno :P

They looked so happy - sitting on top of the double happiness sewing box (part of my wedding pressie from my mum - it's a chinese tradition thing)

Introducing my sewing room

There are still room for improvements but i reckon that i will take my time to build up my 'creative' space :)

No shelving yet and things are now stored in boxes .... i try to be as neat as possible (ie, clean up after each use) ...

Need to find a place to store all my stash (see the bags on the left)? I am building up my 'fats' pretty fast :P

My yummy sewing threads - some are from spotlight, some are 'wedding pressies' from my mum :)

Needed - an ironing board/mat, some shelving in the room and also a board to display my inspirations

many a times, we just buy fabrics on whims n fancy and lately i had caught the quilting/patchwork bug

haven't really started on any real projects BUT i am definitely busy with reading up on online/print resources

even dragged my mum to sign up for class :)

The trio strikes again - Mums & Babies Picnic Bazaar - 27 July 2011

We (the trio) will be taking part in this bazaar. We will be featuring lots of handmade goodies from hairclips, to crochet/knitted booties and fabric shoes for your little ones. .... more details will be posted.

Problem encountered
1. No serger machine. So, there are some raw edges. I intend to try this again - this time, with the pseudo serger function in my Brother
2. I have a hard time sewing in the thigh area :( Going to try again
3. The length of the elastic in the pattern is too long. Going to do via trial and error the second time.

Overall, I love how it turned out :)

Flying clouds lunch bag

Saturday was a productive day, Not only did I come up with the bed sheet cover, i made the lunch bag as well.

I did not follow the pattern to the T as (1) i did not have sufficient length of the fabric (2) I got lost in the pattern half way :P

Nevertheless, the results turned out well.

Simply love the cloud prints :)

Went to check out my favourite shop along queen's street. When i first set eyes on the fabric, i knew that i need to get it to make a bed sheet cover for the crib.

and so happened that i saw the tutorial online by Made by Dana. Seems easy enough. But with my prior tissue cozy experience, i decided to take my own measurement instead of depending on the information furnished. ;)

Becoz I do not have a serger machine, i decided to try out the pseudo serger function available in my brother - a good practice :) the end result is pretty good.

Sale at Spotlight

The sale at spotlight went on for quite sometime. Last week, they were giving out discount coupon - for every $100 spent, you get $40 off.... been thinking of the cutting set for the longest time and this is the best time to make use of the promotion. :)

I also got other cute stuff - to make up the amount ...

They are all so kawaii ......

Quick fix for my addiction

I am suffering from cute fabric addiction and the thing is, with modernisation, it is very, very, very difficult to locate the textile shops which once upon a time, could be found in the housing estates ....

Yesterday, I went to look for a fix. Alas, the shop is not opened. She has probably gone for an early CNY break. :( Next time, I MUST get her contact number.

Next, I proceeded to another textile shop. Sadly, he has converted most of his fabric stocks to curtain stocks. No luck there as well.

I finally got my fix by going through my mum's sewing room - i found lots of fabric - from past purchases ... hahahaha so happy :)

Need to improve on the sewing (insides) and also to get a proper fabric pencil :P

Sew - in love

this was what i did over the weekend

1. unpicking a pair of toddlers' pants
2. resewing them
3. end results is still very yucky. sigh. Got to redo

This pic was taken before unpicking. Looks normal here but there are some wrong stuff done to it. :P

I moved on to do something to motivate me - a tissue cozy based on this tutorial. Happily measured and cut and sew. BUT, apparently, the size of tissue packs in not a standard around the world. The tutorial has a bigger dimension than the tissue pack here and I ended up with an accidental by-product. Hahaha.

This is my first completed tissue cozy! and an accidental by-product - can i use it as a thumb drive pouch?


Lessons learnt -

1. always measure to double confirm. Do not follow pattern blindly. Accidental by-pdt - a pouch for your thumb drive? :p

2. Use a proper fabric pen - not just any pencil. Hope I am able to remove the lines :/

3. Use pins to do placement. Project may be small but we can't always hit and run and hope to get everything in place. *painful lesson for me

Overall, a fun project to do ... and more so, since the sewing room is up and running. Thanks to Carpenter Kwee. :)

First Flea

Nay ... no one caught a flea ...

we are going to take part in a flea market .... we are still so disorganised. We meaning - Lil'headturner, Angel-line and Fides Floris ... all hand made stuff
